INFORMATION ABOUT SAYULITA
Sayulita is fun, safe and affordable. Located just 45 minutes north of the Puerto Vallarta airport, the fishing village of Sayulita, Nayarit, Mexico, offers wonderful sandy beaches, palm trees and surfing, as well as lush jungle terrain and a taste of life in a picturesque Mexican peublo.
The people are friendly and by the end of a week you will be waving and saying "Hola" to half the town. Children play in the plaza while occasionally a cowboy rides down the cobblestone streets. The food in Sayulita is delicious and there are many restaurants to choose from. Many cafes offer espresso drinks and internet access, too.
Once they have experienced Sayulita, many of our guests at Casa Buena Onda have decided to stay longer!
Sayulita is now in the same time zone as Puerto Vallarta (Central Time Zone). Internet and telephone access is very good with many internet cafes. At Casa Buena Onda we provide wireless internet for our guests. There are also 4 ATM bank machines in town.
Besides surfing there are numerous beach activities you can engage in: fishing, snorkeling, swimming, boogie boarding, kayaking or just chillin' on the beach, enjoying the hot sun and working on your suntan.
SNORKELING, FISHING, HIKING AND OTHER ACTIVITIES IN SAYULITA
Sayulita also has excellent fishing. Some of the more common fish include dorado (mahi-mahi), sailfish, marlin, tuna, red snapper, rooster fish, and bonita. Panga boats are available for rent for day or half day and besides a great view of the coastline you may also see whales, dolphins and turtles.
There are many great walking and hiking trails around the Sayulita area. At Casa Buena Onda we are close to several of the best secluded beaches. Both are fun easy walks through lush cool jungle. Plan a picnic or do some snorkeling at Playa Los Muertos. Playa Carracitos is only a 45 minute hike and offers a pristine uncrowded beach with majestic rocks on either side.
Horseback riding, bike tours, ATV tours, snorkeling, bird watching, or even shopping. And after all that activity we at Casa Buena Onda recommend a massage! When staying with us we would be happy to help you see the best Sayulita has to offer.
The sea creatures around Sayulita are waiting to say hello! Beautiful, multi-colored tropical fish, rays, and tortugas (turtles) are very common. You can snorkel on the main beach but we recommend Los Muertos around the rocks on a day with clear water. World class snorkeling and diving can be had by taking a boat to the Marieta Islands very near by.
Surrounded by jungle and nestled in a beautiful cove, Sayulita sits at the same latitude as Hawaii. However it rains more often in Hawaii! Sayulita has a sub-tropical climate with 2 seasons - dry warm winters from November - May and the rainy season in June to October.
Average temperatures during the winter are 80° F/ 26° C.
Summers are pleasant but warmer and more humid - around 88° F/ 31° C. Many vacationers are discovering how great and uncrowded Sayulita can be during these off season months. The rain falls the most in August and September. Rainstorms usually last only 30 minutes to an hour in the late afternoons or evenings (cooling off the evenings) then the rest of the day is sunny.
